Q. Can I use moth balls or ammonia to repel wildlife?
A. No. The fumes and vapors from these chemicals can be toxic and may cause severe ocular and respiratory irritation. This is not a humane solution to a wildlife problem. repelling wildlife or harassing wildlife using moth balls, ammonia or any other chemical is a violation of federal law. If it doesn't list repelling wildlife as a use on the label then you cannot use it for that purpose. Homeowners can put themselves at risk and even decrease the value of their home by using these methods. Q. What do you do with the animals you remove?
A. It is a violation of state law to relocate any wildlife in Massachusetts. All wildlife must be either released at the site of capture or euthanized. This applies to every company and every private individual. Please visit the removal page for a more detailed explanation.
Depending on the species it may be possible to solve a wildlife problem without removing any animals by using exclusion techniques. Some animals, such as bats or birds are usually excluded. Other animals that tend to gnaw, such as squirrels, are usually removed. However, with wildlife work every situation is different.
